Five Fellows Recognized by the 2023 World Press Photo Awards
Congratulations to the five Magnum Foundation alums who were recognized by this year’s World Press Photo regional prizes!
In the Africa region, Mohamed Mahdy (Egypt) was recognized in the open format category for his 2021 Photography and Social Justice Fellowship project Here, The Doors Don’t Know Me; and 2018 Arab Documentary Photography Program Fellow M’hammed Kilito (Morocco) was recognized in the long-term projects category for Before It’s Gone.
In the South America region, Johanna Alarcón (Ecuador) was recognized in the open format category for her 2021 Photography and Social Justice Fellowship project Shifting; and Fabiola Ferrero (Venezuela) was recognized in the long-term projects category for her 2018 Photography and Social Justice Fellowship project I Can’t Hear the Birds
Finally, in the Southeast Asia and Oceania region, 2019 Inge Morath Award Finalist Kimberly dela Cruz (Philippines) was recognized in the long-term projects category for Death of a Nation.
