Counter Histories Grantees Complete Final Presentations
Congratulations to our Counter Histories grantees on completing their final presentations this week!
Since May, the cohort has worked to develop their projects while coming together as a creative community in interdisciplinary exploration and collaboration, as part of our ongoing Photography Expanded series that experiments with new approaches to visual storytelling. It’s been an honor to share space with this incredible group as they confront official histories, insert alternative narratives, and weave inclusive archives for the future. As guest Lafayette Cruise shared in response to the presentations, "every country is trying to create some way of controlling the past and the present...As much as [these grantee projects] are a counter history, the histories we learn are also counter histories. Photography lets us stare back at this mythology."
