We're Hiring: Part-Time Development Associate

At this exciting moment of growth, Magnum Foundation (MF) seeks a creative and organized part-time Development Associate to join our team. Working closely with the Development and Communications Manager and Executive Director, this new role will be responsible for supporting all areas of fundraising and carrying out administrative duties for the Development team. The position reports to the Development Manager and will collaborate extensively with all other departments: Marketing, Programming, and Operations. This is a partially remote position that requires in-person attendance for select events in the NYC metro area, as well as some time in the Magnum Foundation office.

 

ABOUT MAGNUM FOUNDATION

Magnum Foundation expands creativity and diversity in visual storytelling, activating new audiences and ideas through the innovative use of images. Through grant making, mentorship, and creative collaborations, we partner with socially engaged imagemakers exploring new models for storytelling.

FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

CRM / Gift Entry Systems and Processes

  • Process incoming and outgoing mail for the development department

  • Ensure that all types of donations (cash, pledges, matching gifts, and planned gifts) are properly documented and manage the timely acknowledgment of gifts

  • Assist in list building to support appeals, events, and cultivation

  • Organize and maintain office electronic and paper filing systems

  • Enter and update donor/prospect information in donor database on a regular basis with efficiency and accuracy

  • Ensure data integrity through accurate data entry and ongoing clean-up efforts

Individual Giving

  • Assist with the production and distribution of recurring appeals and stewardship materials

  • Help manage gift renewals

  • Draft and manage individual giving correspondence (letters, invitations, mailing lists, eblasts, reports)

Institutional Giving

  • Assist in coordinating and preparing grant materials with development staff and leadership

  • Help develop effective grants filing systems for accurate deadline and document tracking

  • Communication and Cultivation

  • Collaborate with various departments on fundraising initiatives including special events

  • Communicate with donors in person, on the phone, and by email

Other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Must embrace the mission and values of Magnum Foundation

  • Experience working in nonprofits or arts organizations

  • Clear communicator with excellent speaking, writing, editing, and proofreading skills

  • Logic-oriented with time management and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to effectively collaborate with staff on a small, growing team

  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and other basic computer and online tools

  • Aptitude and excitement for fundraising database systems and operational work

Desired:

  • Experience in databases and CRMs (Salesforce preferred)

  • Knowledge of photography and interest in visual storytelling

  • Second language preferred

COMPENSATION

$28/hour, 20 hours/week guaranteed

401K eligible after 1,000 hours worked
