Martín Weber’s Map of Latin American Dreams

Join us for an evening conversation and book signing with Martín Weber and Wendy Ewald!

We're pleased to bring together two extraordinary photographers who have recently published books using participatory creative approaches to co-author images with the communities in which they're working. Magnum Foundation Fund grantee Martín Weber will present Map of Latin American Dreams and Wendy Ewald will present America Border Culture Dreamer.

Martín Weber's Map of Latin American Dreams explores the desired and hopes of people throughout Latin America. For over a decade, Martín photographed families, groups, and individuals responding to the prompt, "Can you write down a wish or a dream that you have?" The project aims to amplify under-represented voices alongside a reflective text about the local, national, and regional traumas and histories that have shaped their lives.

Wendy Ewald's America Border Culture Dreamer presents a poignant series about the experiences of eighteen first- and second-generation immigrant teenagers. Visualized through an alphabet, Wendy and her collaborators have created an A–Z catalog of their personal stories of change, hardship, and hope. Created in a collaboration with Al-Bustan Seeds of Culture, this book casts a new light on the crucial, under-heard voices of teenage immigrants themselves, making a vital contribution to the timely national conversation about immigration in America.

Both books will be available for purchase and signing!
