In partnership with the Agroecology Fund, Magnum Foundation grantee Soumya Sankar Bose documented the role of agroecology, or natural farming, in organizing and empowering independent women farmers to gain control over land rights in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

Without this movement, it would have been impossible to scale these practices up to a situation like that seen today, where nearly 5.8 lakh farmers practice it in Andhra Pradesh. In many ways, these under-served marginalized women in southern India are leading the way to show others what change can look like.
