Congratulations to Yael Martínez on Receiving the Edelman Impact Award in Photography

The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston announced Yael Martínez as the first winner of the newly established Edelman Impact Award in Photography. Martínez will receive an award of $50,000 in recognition of his achievements in photography.
Yael is a Magnum Photographer and longtime Magnum Foundation grantee. Based in Guerrero, Mexico, his work blends documentary and conceptual photography to tell stories of resilience, resistance, and hope in communities affected by violence. A selection of his work will now be part of the MFAH’s permanent collection.
Established by Cathy Edelman, a former Chicago gallerist, the Edelman Impact Award is a continuation of Cathy’s dedication to supporting emerging and mid-career artists. The prize will be given annually to a photographer with a demonstrated commitment to social issues and exceptional visual storytelling.
